Introduction

Kapel, et al, combine to examine a national community based GI pathology referral of patients with GI disorders. This extensive database included over 400,00 patients from 34 states with GI disorders. The authors demonstrate that EOE is common, the disorder exhibits striking male predominance (3:1) and that presenting symptom of adults is dysphagia, while in children the presenting symptom is GERD.

Introduction

Roy-Ghanta, et al, examine a cohort of patients (N=32) with EOE for allergic disorders. They are able to characterize the atopic diathesis of this patients and show that environmental and food allergies are common among adults with EOE.
